02.10.2004 2004 / 2005 season opening event
A29, Portland Building

The new season kicked off on saturday with 28 people crowding into A29 for an afternoon of great competition.
With the groups drawn from the hat, play got underway - a mixture of matches - some nervous nil nils where players came away shaking at the end, some resounding victories and some thrilling 4-3's.
The first knock-out round saw a huge match up, with President Andy playing against Vice-pres Jason. It looked like Andy had control, before two long range strikes put Jason's Brazil through 3-2.

The semi finals saw Jamal see off Matt, while Jason squeezed out Neddy 2-1
So in the final it was previous winner Jase against newcomer Jamal, and the first half provided some end to end football, half time 2-2. In the second half though Jase showed why he's been in about 4 finals, dominating possession and putting in the winner, chipping over the keeper with ronaldo. It could have swung the other way though, France narrowly missing on the counter attack moments before.
Jason kindly donated the first prize back to the society, and Jadel walked away with £15 for second place.

Thanks to all who came down and made it a great event, see you again in 2 weeks!
